Project Director, Not Far From the Tree
Julia Girmenia (she/her) is the Project Director at Not Far From the Tree, a Toronto-based urban gleaning organization. With over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, she has led local and national programs, produced high-impact events, and built strong cross-sector partnerships. Julia brings creativity, empathy, and strategic insight to her work. A passionate community builder and advocate for equity in the charitable sector, she frequently speaks on panels and at events, sharing insights on nonprofit leadership, community engagement, and living with metastatic breast cancer. As a Key Collaborator with Rethink Breast Cancer, she helps shape programs that support young people living with breast cancer. Julia is also an avid traveller who finds inspiration in exploring new places, cultures, and communities.
